Celebrities have always shown a keen interest to help further many causes whether it is being involved with emergency care efforts with the American Red Cross to Ellen DeGeneres feeding one million shelter animals. They have, in many ways, encouraged us (normal folks) to become more involved – because, if they can take time out from under the hot lights and unlimited shopping sprees then why can’t we?
Recently, Access Hollwood released a slideshow of celebrities that ditched the meat for a plant based diet. Specifically, Los Angeles vegetarians, Christian Bale, grew up with an animal rights activist father, who taught him to always be compassionate towards animals. Bale took on vegetarianism when he was just nine-years-old, Kal Pen (as strange as it may sound!) is actually vegetarian not infatuated with white castle! Proof that a vegetarian diet has really become mainstream, Cee-Lo (the musician behind the huge hit (sung by Gwyneth Paltrow on Glee) “F*** You,” goes vegetarian, as reported by TinyGreenBubble.com!

Finally, a few that have been heavily involved with PETA – Alicia Silverstone, who besides already having a distinguished acting career has made leaps and bounds advancements as a activist working closely with PETA and was named the sexist vegetarian in 1997. Most recently, the New York vegetarian born and electric, Olivia Wilde has just been named Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrity of 2010! To those celebrities that might read this posts – thank you for igniting the fire that created DiscoverVeggie.com.
